JOM Student Higher Education Scholarship Program Due Date – June 1, 2024!

Attention: High School Seniors (graduating 2023/2024 school year)

Each year, NJOMA awards scholarships to eligible graduates of high school seniors of the 2023/2024 school year to be used for higher education expenses. It is our way of encouraging our Native American students to continue pursuing their dreams!

Student Scholarships Available for 2024

The following scholarships will be announced on September 11, 2024, at NJOMA’s conference banquet:

• Chief Earl Old Person Scholarship – Two (2) $1,000 scholarships

• Steve Pruitt’s Memorial Scholarship – Two (2) $1,000 scholarships

Important Information:

• This application is for NJOMA-sponsored scholarships only.

• Applications must be postmarked by June 1, 2024!

• Completed application form and all required documents should be mailed to:

Application Requirements:

Please provide the following documents in the order listed:

1. The scholarship application form must be typed or printed legibly in black ink. Incomplete or illegible documents may not be processed.

2. An application essay must include the following information: your name, where you are from, your tribe, the school you are currently attending, and your area of study. Describe your educational goals and future plans as well as explain why you need this scholarship. The last portion of the essay document should include a description of how JOM funding has supported your PreK-12 school experience. The application document should be typed in 12-point font and double spaced.

3. Copy of Certificate of Indian Blood or Tribal Membership card

4. Copy of a current photo (for publishing winner results)

5. Copy of current transcript (can be issued to student or the school can send it directly to NJOMA - same address listed above)
