New Sooner Orientation

It's time for your admitted students to schedule their New Sooner Orientation Days!

New Sooner Orientation (NSO) is a required part of every first-year student’s successful transition to OU. At NSO, each student will work with an academic advisor to complete their fall course schedule. Prior to NSO, students will be pre-enrolled in 2 to 3 courses based on their prior academic course work, assessments (if required), and dean/faculty input.

Options for NSO are provided both in-person and virtually in June and July 2025. Parents/supporters are encouraged to attend.

Before a student can schedule their New Sooner Orientation Day, the following items must be completed:

In order for students to be placed into the right classes at OU during NSO, students MUST send official ACT or SAT test scores directly to OU. Without sending official test scores for verification, students will be required to complete all three course placement assessments, including math, reading, and English. However, once we have official scores, depending on the score, students may be excused from these assessments.
New Sooner Orientation

The deadline to schedule a NSO Day is June 15, 2025. If your students have questions about New Sooner Orientation, please encourage them to review our FAQ page or email us at newsooner@ou.edu.

Scholarship Deadline Extended

Deadline Extended to December 31

Students still have time to apply to OU and be considered for academic, merit-based scholarships! Our scholarship deadline has been extended to December 31.

OU Application

The only item students need to submit by December 31 to be considered for academic, merit-based scholarships is the application. However, we can't review an application for an admissions decision until we have received all the required materials: high school transcript, ACT/SAT score (optional but encouraged), letters of recommendation, and the application fee.

Additionally, please note that campus will be closed for the winter holiday from December 23, 2024 through January 1, 2025.
